DAY RIDE

OCTOBER 13, 2009

Tuesday is our day off and we woke to cool weather and cloudy skies- but at least it wasn't raining. A great day to take off on a ride.

Beginning of Ride

We put on our full leathers and left our home in North Knoxville.

We rode to Halls and got on 331 and rode to Blaine- stopping to eat lunch at Breeding's Restaurant.

Breeding's Restaurant

We've eaten here before- and they've got good home cooking.

From Blaine we went North on 11W to Rutledge where we hit 92.

Olde Grainger Counter Jail

We stopped to see the Olde Grainger Counter Jail.

Fall Leaves on 92.

The leaves on 92 were just beginning to turn.

Further on down 92, we stopped in to see our bike painter David Hurst.

Jeff and David

David graciously stops working while we visit.

If you've ever seen some of the restored vintage bikes- or the custom Harley's in our store- David is the painter. His shop- "Slide Effects" is right on 92 between Rutledge and Cherokee Dam. Over the years, we've tried several different painters- and without a doubt, David Hurst is the best painter we've ever commissioned. Next time you're in Biker Rags, check out the "Bathtub Bike", the yellow Triumph chopper or the Cafe Gold Wing. These are just a few of the bikes David's done for us.

David and sportster.

David painted this Sportster for us too.

After taking up too much of David's time- we got back on the bikes- continued on 92 , then jumped onto 375 that runs right by Cherokee Lake all the way to 25E.

Cherokee Lake

It's a beautiful road and we stopped to take a few photos of the water.

While on 25E, we stopped and took a few more photos.

More fall colors.

Despite the overcast day, the scenery was still beautiful.

From 25E, we rode through Morristown- and took 11E back to Knoxville. On the way home, the sun even popped out for a few minutes.

We rode 107 miles round trip and it was a great day to be on the bikes. Cool but not too cold- overcast but no rain.
