BIKER RAGS COLD WEATHER TIPS
- MOTORCYCLE JACKET: A leather
motorcycle jacket is characterized by its long sleeves (to
adequately cover the riders wrists when arms are in an up position)
and full upper body coverage. The jacket zips up to the neck area so
that the chest is completely covered. Many motorcycle jackets have a
take out liner so the rider may adjust according to current
temperatures.
- LEATHER CHAPS: A pair of chaps is
akin to wearing a jacket on your legs. Leather chaps wrap around the
thighs and extend down to cover the ankles. The leather acts as a
protective barrier from the cold. Chaps serve as an important part
of the layering process required to thoroughly enjoy cold weather
riding.
- RIDING GLOVES: Gloves that cover the
wrists of the riders motorcycle jacket are essential to prevent wind
from seeping up through the sleeves of the jacket. These gloves also
come with a thinsulate liner to provide warmth. Again- the leather
serves as a protective barrier from cold wind.
- MOTORCYCLE BOOTS: Sturdy leather
boots provide ankle and foot protection from hot pipes, flying
debris and cold winds. The oil resistant soles prevent slippage on
the pavement during stops and starts.
- NECK WARMERS: Neck warmers cover the
riders neck and may also be used to cover the riders mouth. Some
warmers provide coverage for the riders chest. Additionally, neck
warmers help prevent cold wind seeping down into the chest area of
the motorcycle jacket.
- HEAD GEAR: Assuring the head is
properly covered and ears kept warm make cold weather riding
enjoyable. Other helpful items include goggles and a helmet face
shield.
